The piece is inspired by a childhood memory of running through the hollow interiors of an artificial mountain in a Chinese park near my home. Looking up from within, fragments of sky would appear through openings in the stone.
Recalling this now, the artificial rocks take on the role of a portal — a threshold between presence and absence, between what is near and what is irretrievably distant, reflecting on how memory slips through time and space, revealing itself only in fragments.
