Through the Moon Gate - Ink, Chinese Paint, Rice paper, Molding paste and Oil on Canvas, 2025 100 x 30cm (Each Panel)
£550 each (Unframed streched canvas) £1500 for all (Unframed streched canvas)
This triptych draws inspiration from traditional Chinese garden see-through windows and gates, reimagining them as portals through which memory, cultural heritage, and the notion of "home" are glimpsed—but never fully grasped. By combining rice paper and canvas, I explore the tension between presence and absence, permanence and fragility. Each panel frames a layered, partially obscured view—suggesting memories that are shifting, distant, or eroded by time. The use of translucent window silhouettes creates a fractured spatial logic, evoking disorientation and the emotional complexity of looking back toward a place that is both intimately known and increasingly unfamiliar.
