This work is part of my series The Shape of Remains. Inspired by the see-through windows and gate-like forms in traditional Chinese gardens, it reflects on home as both presence and absence. Layers of ink on rice paper depict the memories and loved ones I have left behind—fragile yet deeply rooted. In contrast, the shadows are rendered in softened, pale hues but built with heavy textures, embodying the emotional weight of what remains unspoken. These architectural forms become thresholds between past and present, familiar and distant. The piece echoes the idea that home is not just a physical space, but an accumulation of what remains—blurred, quiet, yet enduring. Even in disrepair, something of it always lingers.
