Four Seasons is inspired by a famous garden in Suzhou, where four windows represent the four seasons with different flower shapes — begonia for spring, lotus for summer, pomegranate for autumn, and plum blossom for winter. I took fragments of these window shapes and brought them together to form one portal — a way of showing the passage of time and how memories change. You might notice the layers of shadow, almost like plants projected on the wall — these suggest how old memories fade while new ones imprint over them, much like how our lives are constantly rewritten by time. There is a shadow of another round shape window projected on top of all these shadows, indicating there is another window here in between the viewers and the work.
