Looking up from within, fragments of sky would appear through openings in the stone.Recalling this now, the artificial rocks take on the role of a portal — a threshold between presence and absence, between what is near and what is irretrievably distant, reflecting on how memory slips through time and space, revealing itself only in fragments. I took fragments of these window shapes and brought them together to form one portal — a way of showing the passage of time and how memories change. You might notice the layers of shadow, almost like plants projected on the wall — these suggest how old memories fade while new ones imprint over them,much like how our lives are constantly rewritten by time. There is a shadow of another round shape window projected on top of all these shadows, indicating there is another window here in between the viewers and the work. Inspired by the see-through windows and gate-like forms in traditional Chinese gardens, it reflects on home as both presence and absence. Layers of ink on rice paper depict the memories and loved ones I have left behind—fragile yet deeply rooted. In contrast, the shadows are rendered in softened, pale hues but built with heavy textures, embodying the emotional weight of what remains unspoken. These architectural forms become thresholds between past and present, familiar and distant. The piece echoes the idea that home is not just a physical space, but an accumulation of what remains—blurred, quiet, yet enduring.
